Summary: The Data Product Manager will oversee the internal Data and CRM platforms, focusing on creating user-friendly data visualization tools and dashboards to enhance business performance and reporting. This role involves defining the roadmap for the Data team, managing existing data products, and ensuring compliance with data governance practices. The position requires collaboration with various stakeholders to deliver effective data solutions. The contract is for 3-6 months, based in Manchester or London, with a requirement for on-site work 2-3 days a week.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver value to stakeholders by defining a roadmap for the Data team, shaping goals and strategies, documenting solutions, and running training and demos of products.
- Help specify, build, and deliver data products, including new data warehouse assets, dashboards, and visualizations for internal data scientists and analysts.
- Manage existing data products, responding to change requests and feedback in a continuous improvement environment.
- Ensure new assets are built according to data governance practices, defining product ownership and ensuring data privacy.
- Support and drive the team in a collaborative environment, prioritizing work, facilitating decision-making, and escalating issues as needed.
- Take ownership of internal Data and CRM platforms to create user-friendly data visualization tools and dashboards.
Key Skills:
- Demonstrated experience in Data product management, ideally with data products and understanding of data platforms (e.g., data warehouse/data lake) using cloud-based technologies.
- Proven experience in understanding stakeholder goals and translating them into successful products and performance metrics.
- Ability to engage with diverse stakeholders, including Analysts, Data Scientists, and BI Teams.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to communicate the bigger picture effectively.
- Knowledge of data analysis tools (e.g., SQL, Tableau, Looker) and data tooling (e.g., BigQuery, Alation, DBT, Fivetran, Airflow).
- Experience with structured data and a basic understanding of data modeling, databases, and data management practices.
- Good understanding of relational databases.
- Strong interpersonal skills for interacting with technical and non-technical roles.
- Highly desirable experience in Editorial/Media/Publishing or CRM.

Data Product Manager must have:
- Demonstrated experience in Data product management, ideally with experience working with data products and an understanding of data platforms (eg data warehouse/data lake) using cloud-based technologies
- Proven experience of understanding stakeholder goals and turning them into successful products and product performance metrics.
- Has the drive and energy to keep up with a diverse set of stakeholders and can speak their language, including Analysts, Data Scientists and BI Teams
- Enjoys the detail and problem solving whilst being able to communicate the bigger picture with strong interpersonal and influencing skills
- Knowledge of data analysis would be beneficial, (eg SQL, Tableau, Looke), as well as knowledge of data tooling (eg BigQuery, Alation, DBT, Fivetran, Airflow)
- Experience of working with structured data, and a basic understanding of the main concepts of data modelling, databases, and data management practices.
- Good understanding of relational databases
- Strong people skills for dealing with a wide variety of technical and non-technical roles within the company
- Highly desirable applicants with Editorial/Media/Publishing experience or CRM
