Summary: The Data Architect role involves designing and implementing data solutions using GCP technologies, with a focus on data products, architecture, and roadmap development. The role is hybrid, requiring 2-3 days on-site each week in Leeds or Halifax, UK, and is contract-based for a duration of 6 months, extendable. Experience in UK Mortgages and familiarity with various programming languages and tools is beneficial but not mandatory.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define Data Product Definition, Architecture, and Roadmap.
- Collaborate with client stakeholders to define Target Model backlog.
- Lead the delivery of complete Architectural Design.
- Ensure designs align with relevant strategies, roadmaps, and policies.
- Support gathering of information requirements from IT and Business stakeholders.
- Simplify and de-risk the information landscape.
- Model information requirements for stakeholder understanding.
- Define the information roadmap for the project and wider programme.
- Ensure data design consistency throughout phases and into build.
- Define data interfaces between systems at the logical level.
- Aid in the physical design of data stores, interface files, or services.
- Ensure compliance with clients' Information policies and standards.
- Lead Architecture Committee governance approvals for artefacts.
Key Skills:
- Experience with GCP Data Products, Data Mesh, ETL, and BigQuery.
- Proficiency in Python, Scala, Java, .NET, and ANSI SQL.
- Familiarity with tools like DBT, Spark, Hive, Kafka, and Pub/Sub.
- Knowledge of Cloud DataProc, Cloud Data Flow, and Cloud Data Fusion.
- Experience with HDFS, Unix File System, RDBMS, and Azure DevOps.
- Ability to define and model information requirements.
- Strong understanding of enterprise-wide information architecture.
- Experience in leading architectural governance and approvals.

- Ensures the data design is consistent from the beginning, through the phases and into build by facilitating knowledge transfer to Engineering team and reviewing their downstream deliverables
- Will define, at the logical level, the data interfaces between systems.
- Will aid in the physical design of any data stores, interface files or services.
- Ensures that the solution is compliant to the clients Information policies and standards.
- Lead Architecture Committee governance approvals for artefacts.
