Summary: The Credit Risk Analyst role focuses on managing credit risk within a global markets business, specifically in commodities. The position involves supporting the Head of Credit in assessing and monitoring counterparty credit risk across various clients. The role requires strong analytical skills and the ability to engage with stakeholders effectively. This is a contract position for an initial duration of three months based in London.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Head of Credit in the implementation and ongoing compliance with credit risk policies and procedures
- Perform quantitative and qualitative credit assessments and credit ratings for new and existing counterparties
- Prepare and present credit recommendations to the Credit Committee
- Monitor counterparty exposures against approved limits and escalate breaches in line with policy
- Oversee end-of-day and intra-day margin calls, including escalation of control breaches
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date credit files, including financials, limits and review decisions
- Manage a portfolio of counterparties, conducting regular reviews of financial and non-financial risk factors
- Maintain awareness of relevant regulations, industry best practice and portfolio credit risk methodologies
- Monitor global macro-economic and country-specific risks impacting counterparty creditworthiness
- Participate in UAT for internal risk and back-office systems
- Provide credit input on trading documentation (e.g. ISDA/CSA, guarantees, loan agreements)
- Undertake ad-hoc projects as required
Key Skills:
- Previous experience in commodities credit risk (LME, CME and/or ICE preferred)
- Strong corporate credit analysis skills (P&L, balance sheet and cash flow analysis)
- Experience assessing counterparties operating within the commodities sector
- Understanding of credit exposure related to initial and variation margin requirements
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders across front office, operations and senior management
- High attention to detail and ability to manage large volumes of qualitative and quantitative data
- Confident representing the Credit function in internal and external discussions

Credit Risk Analyst – Commodities

The Role
An established global markets business is seeking a Credit Risk Analyst for an initial 3 months to help within the Risk Management function. The role focuses on credit risk management across exchange-traded and OTC commodities, with scope to support additional products as the business expands. You will work closely with the Head of Credit, supporting the assessment, monitoring and control of counterparty credit risk across a diverse client base including corporates, financial institutions, CCPs and state-owned entities.
