Summary: The role of Lead DevOps Engineer involves leading the technical implementation of CI/CD components for a digital and technology engineering consultancy. This position requires collaboration with various teams to enhance delivery workflows and support a global client project undergoing digital transformation. The role is hybrid, requiring two days on-site work per week, and offers a competitive daily rate. The contract is outside IR35, with a potential extension beyond December 25.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the technical implementation and rollout of new CI/CD components.
  • Provide guidance and hands-on support to squads using tools such as GitLab CI, ArgoCD, XL Release, Kubernetes/Helm, and RedHat OpenShift.
  • Collaborate with platform engineers and architects to prepare for further adoption of toolchain platform strategy.
  • Work with squad leads and engineering managers to embed new ways of working and improve delivery workflows.
  • Contribute to knowledge sharing, documentation, and structured upskilling of internal teams.
  • Identify and help resolve blockers to toolchain adoption.

Key Skills:

  • Kubernetes, Helm, Docker, and Terraform.
  • Strong understanding of DevOps principles and modern software delivery pipelines.
  • Experience supporting or leading cross-functional squads.
  • Defining, documenting, and embedding ways of working.
  • Comfortable coaching and working alongside engineers and operations teams.
  • Desirable experience in IBM Cloud, RedHat OpenShift, GitLab-CI, ArgoCD, XL Release, or similar CI/CD and deployment orchestration tools.
  • Background in large-scale migrations or platform transitions.
  • Familiarity with regulated (financial services) or enterprise environments, particularly with a group/entity structure.

Fruition is looking for a Lead DevOps Engineer for to work with a multi-award winning digital & technology engineering consultancy who are partnered with enterprise customers & trusted to lead on the UKs most complex transformation programmes.

As a Lead DevOps Engineer you will support this consultancy by working with them on a global client project who's going through a really exciting period of digital transformation.
