Summary: The role of Contract Engineering Buyer involves supporting key projects for an innovative manufacturer through direct purchasing responsibilities. The position requires negotiating prices and ensuring timely delivery of mechanical and electro-mechanical components. The successful candidate will work closely with the Purchasing Manager and utilize SAP/MRP/ERP systems. This is a 6-month contract with an immediate start available.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the purchasing of shop floor items.
- Price negotiation to ensure the lowest overall cost of acquisition.
- Place purchase orders for a defined range of suppliers using SAP/MRP/ERP systems.
- Ensure suppliers deliver products to agreed delivery dates.
- Monitor supplier performance.
Key Skills:
- Previous purchasing/procurement experience in a production/manufacturing environment.
- Broad-based direct purchasing experience, ideally covering mechanical, electro-mechanical, or electrical commodities.
- Working knowledge of SAP/MRP/ERP systems.
- Strong negotiation skills.

CONTRACT ENGINEERING BUYER
6-month contract, Immediate start available
Innovative manufacturer is looking for a contract Production Buyer to support some of their key projects.As contract Buyer, it will be a varied Purchasing role with responsibility for direct purchasing within manufacture supporting the Purchasing Manager to procure day-to-day items across a mechanical / electro-mechanical commodity range for production, from mechanical components/assemblies including metalwork to cables, electronics, and consumables.
Key accountabilities for contract Buyer will include:
- Supporting the purchasing of shop floor items
- Price negotiation / ensuring the lowest overall cost of acquisition.
- Placing purchase orders for a defined range of suppliers, using the SAP / MRP / ERP system
- Ensure suppliers deliver product to agreed delivery dates.
- Cost reductions
- Monitor supplier performance
To succeed in this interesting Buyer's role, you will need:
- Previous purchasing/procurement experience in a production/manufacturing environment
- Broad-based direct purchasing experience, ideally covering mechanical, electro-mechanical or electrical commodities.
- A working knowledge of SAP / MRP / ERP systems and negotiation skills are required.
Hours of work - Hours – 8:30 – 5:15 Monday – Thursday, 8:30 – 1:00 pm Friday
The role will be working on an Inside IR35 basis, and the option to work either direct PAYE or via an Umbrella company is available
