Summary: The Consultant General and Benign Upper Gastrointestinal Surgeon role at Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust involves providing high-quality surgical services, focusing on laparoscopic and open benign upper gastrointestinal procedures. Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage emergency general surgery cases, including gallbladder surgeries.
  • Participate in clinical trials and research initiatives.
  • Engage in teaching and training activities with medical students and junior staff.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams for patient management.
  • Contribute to the development of services and best practices within the department.

Key Skills:

  • Competence in upper gastrointestinal surgery techniques.
  • JAG accreditation in upper gastrointestinal endoscopy.
  • Full registration with the GMC and inclusion on the Specialist Register.
