Summary: The Consultant General and Benign Upper Gastrointestinal Surgeon role at Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust involves providing high-quality surgical services, focusing on laparoscopic and open benign upper gastrointestinal procedures. Key Responsibilities:
- Perform laparoscopic and open benign upper gastrointestinal procedures.
- Manage emergency general surgery cases, including gallbladder surgeries.
- Participate in clinical trials and research initiatives.
- Engage in teaching and training activities with medical students and junior staff.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams for patient management.
- Contribute to the development of services and best practices within the department.
Key Skills:
- Competence in upper gastrointestinal surgery techniques.
- JAG accreditation in upper gastrointestinal endoscopy.
- Full registration with the GMC and inclusion on the Specialist Register.

- Experience in supervising junior medical staff.
