Summary: This role is a fixed-term contract for 3-6 months, based in Birmingham, focusing on enhancing financial crime prevention measures within the organization. The Compliance and AML Manager will work independently and collaborate with senior compliance leadership on key projects, refining risk assessment frameworks and updating policies. The position requires strong project management skills and the ability to guide teams while providing expert advice in a dynamic compliance environment. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in compliance and AML, with a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating financial crime risks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Track and escalate potential suspicious activities, drafting high-quality reports.
  • Carry out Customer Due Diligence (CDD), Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD), and screenings for Sanctions and Politically Exposed Persons (PEPs).
  • Identify emerging financial crime and fraud risks, assessing their potential impact.
  • Collaborate with operational teams to implement stronger fraud prevention and AML measures.
  • Review, update, and enhance key financial crime-related policies and procedures.
  • Refine and improve risk assessment tools and frameworks.
  • Conduct daily AML monitoring, triage cases, and carry out in-depth investigative reviews.
  • Spot weaknesses in internal controls and partner with stakeholders for improvements.
  • Take ownership of assigned projects, providing compliance guidance to internal stakeholders.
  • Provide informal support and guidance to junior team members.
  • Assist in gathering data for regulatory bodies or law enforcement.
  • Support broader compliance and risk teams with governance and reporting.
  • Cover responsibilities during colleague absences to ensure smooth operations.

Key Skills:

  • At least 5 years of experience within compliance and AML.
  • Experience working as a Project Manager.
  • Team leadership experience.
  • Full UK working rights with no sponsorship requirement.
  • Availability to interview and start at short notice.

Salary (Rate): £50,000.00 yearly

In this role, you’ll collaborate with senior compliance leadership, taking charge of key project-driven workstreams. Your main responsibilities will include refining risk assessment frameworks, updating policies, and assisting with day-to-day financial crime operations, investigations, and internal oversight. The ideal candidate will be comfortable leading projects, guiding teams when needed, and offering expert advice within a growing and evolving compliance function.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Crime Prevention
  • Track and escalate potential suspicious activities, flagging red flags and assisting with the drafting of high-quality reports.

  • Conduct daily AML monitoring, triage cases, and carry out in-depth investigative reviews.
