Summary: The role of Technical Financial Accountant involves supporting a local authority's financial improvement programme through substantive testing and evaluation of balance sheet balances. Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct substantive testing of balance sheet balances to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
- Evaluate estimation techniques and ensure they are evidence-based and policy-compliant.
- Assess and support the implementation of effective balance sheet controls and reconciliations.
- Undertake or review reconciliations and clear holding/suspense accounts.
- Recommend and support improvements to financial processes, including training and guidance.
Key Skills:
- Full or part CCAB qualification.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage colleagues and explain technical concepts clearly.
- Excellent Excel and analytical skills; experience with Oracle Fusion is desirable.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Up-to-date knowledge of the CIPFA Code of Practice and other relevant regulations.
