Summary: The Community Engagement Officer for the Riverwoods initiative will oversee the implementation of a community engagement strategy aimed at fostering diverse community involvement in riparian activities. This role involves coordinating engagement programs, developing educational resources, and facilitating participatory workshops to promote river woodland recovery. The position is full-time and fixed-term until June 2028, based in Edinburgh with hybrid working options available.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the implementation of the Riverwoods Community Engagement Strategy.
- Coordinate and support a program of engagement and skills-building activities for target communities.
- Develop four River Trails to encourage public engagement with river woodlands.
- Create a Riverwoods educational pack for schools and youth groups.
- Support participatory workshops to co-design a Riverwoods Blueprint for community engagement.
Key Skills:
- Ability to engage with and enthuse community leaders.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Previous success in engaging diverse communities, including disadvantaged and/or minority audiences.
- Experience leading strategic community outreach events and activities.
- Experience engaging communities with nature, particularly riparian and river systems.
- Experience in partnership working with key stakeholders.
