Summary: A Class 3 Building Control Inspector is urgently needed for a local authority in the West Midlands, primarily working from home with occasional site visits. The role involves assessing dangerous structures, managing development sites, and collaborating with the Building Safety Regulator. Candidates must hold the appropriate Building Inspector status and relevant educational qualifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess dangerous structures and implement immediate remedial works.
- Provide supervision and management of the works of others within the Building Control section's management framework.
- Manage a portfolio of development sites, including high-risk building schemes, and maintain proper records.
- Work with the Building Safety Regulator to fulfill legal duties and assist in the regulation of higher-risk buildings.
- Investigate complaints and matters related to demolition, dangerous structures, and unauthorized works, initiating enforcement actions as necessary.
Key Skills:
- Class 2A - 3H Registered Building Inspector status through the Building Safety Regulator.
- Degree level education in Building Control, Building Surveying, Construction, Structural Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Authorized by the Building Safety Regulator to act as a Class 3 Registered Building Inspector.
- Proven skills and competency to work without supervision on all Classes of buildings.
- Desirable: Membership in a relevant professional body such as RICS, CABE, CIOB, or equivalent.
