Summary: The Centre Administrator role at Newcastle University involves providing essential administrative support to the NIHR Research Support Service Specialist Centre for Public Health. The position requires effective communication and organizational skills to manage diverse tasks and stakeholder relationships in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will contribute to the establishment of a new Centre aimed at enhancing public health research outside the NHS. This is a full-time, fixed-term position until September 2028.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative support to the Centre's leadership and team, including diary management, meeting coordination, and travel arrangements.
  • Coordinate and support Centre meetings and working groups, including drafting agendas and taking minutes.
  • Administer systems for triage and response to clients, ensuring compliance with research governance and data protection legislation.
  • Lead designated administrative processes, including initial enquiries and monitoring progress.
  • Act as the first point of contact for the Centre, communicating with stakeholders and University staff.
  • Support management information reporting and maintain databases of information.
  • Manage procurement of consumables and equipment, processing payments and monitoring budgets.
  • Organize meetings, conferences, and stakeholder engagement events.
  • Develop and maintain effective office procedures and systems for efficient support.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and participate in relevant working groups.

Key Skills:

  • Relevant recent administrative experience in a large organization.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong administrative skills, including experience in setting up filing systems and preparing meeting agendas.
  • Ability to work accurately to deadlines with attention to detail.
  • Experience in budgetary monitoring and financial management systems.
  • Proficient IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Office.
  • Experience in developing and operationalizing administrative systems.
  • Ability to draft reports and promotional materials.
  • Good team working abilities and the capacity to prioritize workload.
  • Commitment to continuing professional development.

Salary (Rate): £27,644.00
