Summary: The C++/Linux Software Product Support Engineer role at a leading Defence Organisation in Bristol involves providing technical support for missile system Middleware solutions. The position requires a strong background in software engineering, particularly with C/C++ and Linux, and entails debugging and resolving complex software issues. The role is primarily on-site and offers a 4-day work week. This is an initial 6-month contract with potential for long-term engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support in-service missile-system Middleware solutions and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
- Conduct debugging and engineering investigations on complex software.
- Configure and maintain Linux Operating Systems, ensuring security and support solutions.
- Collaborate with a team to resolve technical issues and communicate solutions to non-technical stakeholders.
- Engage in projects across land and maritime applications within advanced missile systems.
Key Skills:
- Proficiency in C or C++ (essential), Ada, and/or JavaScript, Shell Scripting languages.
- Experience in configuring and maintaining Linux OSs (Redhat and/or Ubuntu), including Kernel configuration.
- Strong problem-solving skills and critical thinking in software engineering.
- Excellent communication skills for conveying technical information to non-technical audiences.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
