Summary: The AWS DevOps Engineer role is a short-term contract position focused on enhancing cloud infrastructure and improving CI/CD pipelines within an AWS environment. The successful candidate will support the deployment of scalable services and work closely with a dynamic team. This position requires a strong background in AWS services and DevOps practices. The role is hybrid, requiring three days a week in Sheffield and the remainder remote.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and manage scalable, secure, and highly available AWS infrastructure
- Create and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or CloudFormation
- Manage Kubernetes clusters and deploy containerised applications
- Set up and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate build, test, and deployment workflows
- Monitor systems, troubleshoot issues, and optimise performance
- Implement and maintain security and compliance controls across AWS environments
- Collaborate with software developers and architects to support continuous delivery and operational excellence
Key Skills:
- Proven background as an AWS DevOps Engineer in commercial environments
- Strong expertise in AWS core services including EC2, ECS, EKS, S3, IAM, Lambda, CloudFormation, CloudWatch, RDS, Route 53, and VPCs
- Solid experience with Kubernetes and containerisation using Docker and Amazon EKS
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and/or CloudFormation
- CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or CodePipeline
- Monitoring and logging with tools like CloudWatch, ELK Stack, Prometheus, Grafana, or similar
- Scripting in Python, Bash, or similar
- Good understanding of networking, security groups, load balancers, and general cloud security best practices

We're looking for an experienced AWS DevOps Engineer to join a dynamic team on a short-term contract, starting as soon as possible. You'll be instrumental in supporting and enhancing cloud infrastructure, deploying scalable services, and improving CI/CD pipelines within an AWS environment.
