Key Responsibilities:
- Leading the development of automated frameworks to enhance software development speed and quality.
- Championing clean code practices and conducting peer code reviews.

- Building, customizing, deploying, and managing test automation frameworks.
- Shaping QA strategy and defining best practices in testing across teams.
- Building scalable automated solutions across various systems, including front-end channels and APIs.

Key Skills:

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking an Automation Tester to work for our client within the retail sector. This is initially a 6 month contract with the potential to extend and will be a hybrid role based in London. Our client is seeking an Automation Tester to play a pivotal role in driving real change in their processes to ensure they can release reliable code on a regular basis. There will be a core focus on reducing bugs post-release, rapidly increasing % test coverage and reducing the time it takes to ship new functionality to the customer. This is a great opportunity to define and deliver on a test strategy that seeks to progress their automation testing capabilities, while supporting SCRUM sprint ticket delivery. As a result, the successful candidate would need to be able to demonstrate confidence in delivering multiple functional tests.
Responsibilities:
- Leading the development of automated frameworks within the team to improve the speed and quality of software development by checking for scalability, reliability, consistency, and performance.
- Championing clean code and practices that make change easy, including peer reviewing your colleague’s code.
- Extending automation to include service provisioning, test data management, dashboarding and business process validation.
- Building, customising, deploying, and managing the test automation frameworks.
- You’ll help shape QA strategy across squads and contribute to defining best practices in testing across the native apps team.
- Building efficient, practical and scalable automated solutions across multiple areas of our systems estate, including front end customer channels, services, middleware systems, and APIs.
- Seeking to build automated solutions for reviewing logs and databases as part of the testing process.
- Development and execution of automated tests using existing and new frameworks Drive improvement in automated testing within the release process.
About You
- Extensive experience in Automation testing and keenly interested in gaining experience in Automated testing using common frameworks including Spring boot, Phyton and Selenium
- Possess strong programming language expertise in Java and Spring boot
- Familiar with agile software development especially SCRUM
- Good communication skills
- Concise able to write and maintain technical documentation
- Comfortable with taking responsibility and collaborating confidently with key stakeholders.
- Experience with GitHub CICD actions/workflows
- Experience with Jira & Confluence for ticket/documentation support
