Summary: The Automation Process Engineer role at LNER involves designing and implementing automation solutions using Robotic Process Automation (RPA) and No/Low Code tools, particularly UiPath and Microsoft Power Platform. The position is part of the Automation Centre of Excellence and requires collaboration with various stakeholders to optimize business processes for automation. This is a 12-month fixed-term contract aimed at enhancing LNER's automation capabilities and delivering measurable value across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct process analysis, design, and documentation to identify inefficiencies and opportunities for improvement.
  • Gather technical requirements and assess the feasibility of automating identified processes.
  • Develop detailed solution design documents for automation developers and ensure alignment with organizational policies.
  • Collaborate with development teams and act as a liaison between business users and RPA/Power Platform developers.
  • Support change management and training for business units adopting automated solutions.
  • Monitor the performance of automated processes and recommend enhancements.

Key Skills:

  • Strong understanding of process analysis, mapping, design, improvement, and optimization.
  • Familiarity with RPA and Low/No Code tools (e.g., UiPath, Power Platform, MS Dynamics).
  • Proficiency in UiPath tools such as Automation Hub, Task Mining, Dashboards, and Insights.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Analytical mindset with attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience in creating process documentation and workflow diagrams.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, IT, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Extensive experience in process design or similar roles.
  • Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma or other process improvement methodologies is a plus.
  • Certifications in RPA tools and/or business/process analysis are highly desirable.
