Summary: The Assistant Management Accountant role is a full-time position based in North Nottinghamshire, focusing on modernizing the finance function of a respected engineering and service business. The successful candidate will work closely with the Financial Controller to enhance financial reporting and processes during a period of transformation. This position offers a hands-on opportunity to contribute to key projects and drive change within the organization. The role is initially office-based with potential for hybrid working after three months.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Producing accurate financial reports and supporting audits.
  • Improving processes and unlocking the full potential of Microsoft Dynamics 365 F&O.
  • Enhancing revenue and gross margin reporting.
  • Preparing for interim and year-end audits across group companies.
  • Reviewing and automating fixed asset processes.
  • Supporting the implementation of electronic timesheets and payroll improvements.
  • Identifying inefficiencies in AP, AR, and Treasury and recommending improvements.

Key Skills:

  • Qualified by Experience (QBE), Part-Qualified, or Newly Qualified (ACA/CIMA/ACCA).
  • Experienced in accruals, prepayments, and revenue recognition.
  • Comfortable working with Legacy systems and excited to help modernize them.
  • Skilled in Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, advanced formulas); Power BI knowledge is a plus.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Dynamics 365 F&O (desirable).
  • From a service or manufacturing background (highly desirable).

Salary: £38,000 - £45,000 (up to £50,000 for the right candidate)
Contract: 6-month fixed-term contract

About the Opportunity

As an assistant management accountant, you will play a key role in modernising and strengthening the finance function. The successful candidate will work closely with the Financial Controller to help transition the finance team from a traditional, owner-managed setup to a forward-thinking, value-adding function.
The Role
This is a hands-on, varied role that will suit someone who enjoys rolling up their sleeves, solving problems, and driving change.
You'll be responsible for producing accurate financial reports, supporting audits, improving processes, and helping to unlock the full potential of Microsoft Dynamics 365 F&O.You'll also be involved in a number of key projects, including:

  • Enhancing revenue and gross margin reporting (experience with service contracts, POC, or similar revenue recognition methods is highly desirable)
  • Preparing for interim and year-end audits across group companies
  • Reviewing and automating fixed asset processes
  • Supporting the implementation of electronic timesheets and payroll improvements
  • Identifying inefficiencies in AP, AR, and Treasury and recommending improvements
