Summary: The role of Android Developer involves contributing to a major Engineering Transformation programme at a leading UK bank. The position requires expertise in Kotlin and Java to develop and maintain advanced Android applications in a hybrid working environment. The successful candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams and handle the full app life cycle, ensuring optimal mobile experiences. This is a contract position with an immediate start date.
Key Responsibilities:
- Building and maintaining advanced Android apps using Kotlin, Java, and frameworks like RxJava
- Designing with architecture patterns like MVP, MVVM, or MVI
- Handling the full app life cycle - from modules through to Play Store deployment
- Optimising mobile experiences across a range of screen sizes and Android versions
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to define and deliver new features
- Integrating APIs and external data sources
- Writing unit tests, squashing bugs, and improving performance
- Staying ahead with the latest tools and trends in Android development
Key Skills:
- Solid experience with Kotlin/Java, RxJava, and Android architecture components
- Strong understanding of app life cycle and mobile UI/UX best practices
- Familiarity with GitHub, Jira, Confluence, Jenkins, and Gradle
- Agile mindset and collaborative working style
- Banking experience is a bonus, but not essential
