Summary: The role of 8B Principal Clinical Psychologist involves providing clinical leadership across the East and Central Suffolk Young Adult Mental Health Services, focusing on the unique needs of individuals aged 18 to 25. Key Responsibilities:
- Providing consultation to support treatment delivery by others.
- Providing clinical supervision to experienced psychologists and other professionals.
- Progressing staff development and informing wider strategy.
- Collaborative leadership with the Clinical Team Manager and Consultant Psychiatrist.
- Establishing a psychologically safe environment through positive leadership values.
- Managing team emotions and facilitating difficult conversations.
- Contributing to service development projects in collaboration with senior leadership.
- Enhancing the psychological practice of the team with a focus on quality and efficacy.
- Working with Consultant Clinical Psychologists to develop clinical pathway intervention packages.
Key Skills:
- Post-graduate doctoral level training in clinical psychology or equivalent.
- Eligibility for chartered status with the BPS.
- Registered as a Practitioner Psychologist with the HCPC.
- Specialist complex psychological assessment and treatment experience.
- Extensive experience as a qualified clinical psychologist.
- Ability to maintain professionalism in emotionally distressing situations.
- Experience in teaching, training, and delivering clinical supervision.
- Assessment, evaluation, and management of risk associated with mental health.
- Well-developed knowledge of specialized psychological therapies.
- Commitment to continuing professional development and reflective practice.
