2nd Line Support Engineer

Contract Term: 3 Months

Contracting Authority: Department for Education

Location: Coventry

As a 2nd Line Support Engineer your main responsibilities will be: 

  • The engineer s primary task is to handle day-to-day operational work (BAU). This includes provisioning laptops, tablets, headsets, and mobile phones for new hires, as well as collecting these devices when colleagues leave the department
  • They ll troubleshoot a wide range of issues, including hardware faults, operating system errors, and performance issues.
  • Deskside and video conferencing (VC) support will also be part of their role.
  • Additionally, we re continuing the rollout of capital assets specifically Surface Laptops and Surface Pro devices as we transition to a USB-C estate and eventually phase out docking stations.
  • Beyond BAU tasks, other critical priorities are competing for attention.
  • Rolling out new capital assets to DfE colleges.
  • Onboarding new starters and building/replacing devices.
  • Supporting the implementation of the new Logitech VC solution.
  • Testing new system functionality.
  • Assisting with project work, including device refreshes.
  • Conducting floor move checks after major renovation works in the Coventry office.
  • Providing support to VIPs, including Ministers and their Private Offices.
