Summary: The Z/OS Systems Programmer role in Sheffield involves maintaining and upgrading z/OS systems and ISV products, particularly from IBM and Computer Associates. Key Responsibilities:
- Upgrade, maintain, and support the z/OS operating system and ISV products.
- Provide production support and ensure essential environmental conditions are maintained.
- Oversee deployment, planning, configuration, and testing of systems.
- Provide off-hours support for software changes and participate in an on-call rota.
- Set and achieve challenging goals that exceed industry standards.
- Communicate complex information effectively to diverse audiences.
- Build effective networks and relationships across business areas.
- Create and deploy comprehensive business/operating plans.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory processes and risk management.
Key Skills:
- Extensive experience in mainframe systems programming.
- Knowledge of z/OS, SMP/E, TSO/ISPF, USS, SDSF, JCL.
- Familiarity with IBM and CA products.
- Excellent problem determination and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience in creating and deploying business/operating plans.
- Understanding of risk management and regulatory compliance.
- Complimentary skills in Assembler, Automation, GDPS, Rexx, and CLIST.
- Proficient in performance monitoring using Omegamon, RMF, SMF, and SAS.
