Summary: The Youth Worker role in York, North Yorkshire, involves providing essential support and guidance to students with diverse learning needs in a secondary school setting. Key Responsibilities:
- Assisting students on a 1:1 and small group basis, delivering pre-planned interventions.
- Planning and facilitating group activities and workshops that promote social skills, emotional well-being, and independence.
- Working in partnership with the SENCO to achieve EHCP outcomes.
- Offering emotional support and guidance to students experiencing difficulties or distress.
- Maintaining regular communication with parents or guardians, providing updates on student progress.
- Participating in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss student progress and develop individualized support plans.
Key Skills:
- Previous experience as a Youth Worker or in a similar role, preferably in an educational setting.
- Understanding of Special Educational Needs (SEN) and experience with students with diverse learning needs.
- Empathy, patience, and a genuine desire to support young people's well-being and development.
- Knowledge of behavior management techniques and strategies for supporting students with SEN.
- Relevant qualifications in youth work, social work, education, or a related field.
- Enhanced Child Only DBS registered to the update service or willingness to apply for one.
