Summary: The Year-End Technical Accountant will play a crucial role in supporting the finance team of a local authority during the year-end accounting process. This position involves leading the preparation of year-end accounts, ensuring compliance with local government accounting standards, and providing technical accounting advice. The role requires extensive experience in local government finance and proficiency in the TechnologyOne ERP system.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and support the preparation of year-end accounts
• Ensure accurate and timely production of working papers and financial statements
• Provide technical accounting advice and updates on relevant legislative changes
• Liaise with external auditors and respond to audit queries
• Assist in the closure of accounts and ensure full compliance with local government accounting standards
• Unpicking historic transactions in TechnologyOne
• Tackling issues around debtors and bank reconciliations
• Helping validate and cleanse financial data ahead of the new financial year

Key Skills:

• Extensive year-end experience within a Local Government finance environment
• Fully Qualified Accountant
• Prior experience using TechnologyOne ERP system
• Strong understanding of local authority accounting requirements and regulations
• Confident in managing complex technical accounting queries
