Summary: The Year-End Technical Accountant role involves leading the preparation of year-end accounts for a local authority, ensuring compliance with local government accounting standards. This is a 6-month hybrid contract with a daily rate of £500 - £600, classified as inside IR35. Occasional travel to the office in the East Midlands is required.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and support the preparation of year-end accounts
• Ensure accurate and timely production of working papers and financial statements
• Provide technical accounting advice and updates on relevant legislative changes
• Liaise with external auditors and respond to audit queries
• Assist in the closure of accounts and ensure full compliance with local government accounting standards
• Unpick historic transactions in TechnologyOne
• Tackle issues around debtors and bank reconciliations
• Help validate and cleanse financial data ahead of the new financial year

Key Skills:

• Extensive year-end experience within a Local Government finance environment
• Fully Qualified Accountant
• Prior experience using TechnologyOne ERP system
• Strong understanding of local authority accounting requirements and regulations
• Confident in managing complex technical accounting queries
