Summary: Altum Consulting is seeking a Year End Accountant for a 6-week interim role with a UK charity focused on helping individuals from refugee backgrounds find meaningful employment. The role involves overseeing the year-end accounting process and ensuring compliance with relevant standards and deadlines. The successful candidate will prepare financial statements and coordinate with external auditors. This position requires a fully qualified accountant with experience in financial accounting or audit within the charity sector.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and finalise statutory year-end accounts in line with charity SORP
- Coordinate with external auditors and provide necessary documentation and analysis
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate discrepancies
- Ensure all adjustments, accruals, and prepayments are correctly recorded
- Collaborate with finance team members to ensure accurate financial reporting
- Provide input into process improvements for year-end reporting
Key Skills:
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent)
- Minimum 3 years' experience in financial accounting or audit within a charity or non-profit organisation
- Strong knowledge of year-end processes and statutory reporting
- Proficient in QuickBooks
- Excellent attention to detail and time management
- Strong communication skills for working with auditors and internal teams
