Summary: The Year-End Accountant role is a 3-month contract position focused on preparing year-end statutory accounts and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. The successful candidate will work closely with external auditors and internal stakeholders to facilitate accurate financial reporting during the year-end process. This hybrid role requires a qualified professional with strong technical accounting skills and the ability to work independently. Immediate availability is preferred for this position based in Liverpool.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare year-end statutory accounts from trial balance
- Liaise with external auditors and manage audit queries
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts and resolve discrepancies
- Review and adjust journal entries, accruals, and prepayments
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies
- Assist with tax computations and filing support (where applicable)
- Provide insights and analysis to support the finance team during year-end
- Ensure all reporting deadlines are met in a timely and accurate manner
- Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders to gather necessary financial data
Key Skills:
- ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified (or equivalent)
- Proven experience in year-end accounting and accounts preparation
- Strong technical knowledge of UK GAAP and FRS 102
- Excellent Excel skills and familiarity with accounting software
- Comfortable working independently and hitting the ground running
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
