x2 Senior Business Analysts - Data Marketplace

Posted Today by Hays Specialist Recruitment

Your new company

You'll be joining a nationally recognised public sector organisation that's invested heavily in its data and analytics capability over recent years.

They're now embarking on an ambitious proof-of-concept programme to establish a new data marketplace, helping organisations share and access data more effectively to drive better insights and decision-making.

This is new territory, so they're looking to bring in external expertise to help shape how it works, rather than simply maintain something that's already in place.

Your new role

We're looking for two Senior Business Analysts to join an established programme team on an initial 5-month contract (£670-770/day via Umbrella).

This isn't a traditional BA role. You'll be working across data governance, data standards and stakeholder engagement, helping define the frameworks, processes and "rules of the road" that will underpin the new marketplace.

  • Build governance frameworks and operating models
  • Define data standards, taxonomy and metadata requirements
  • Facilitate workshops and gather requirements from diverse stakeholder groups
  • Translate business needs into practical, implementable solutions
  • Support the development of data sharing, participation and accreditation models
  • Produce BA artefacts including process maps, requirements and governance documentation

What you'll need to succeed and what you'll get in return

We're keen to speak with experienced Senior BAs who have worked on complex data programmes and can comfortably bridge the gap between business and technical teams.

  • You'll ideally have experience in:
  • Data governance frameworks
  • Data modelling, taxonomy or metadata standards
  • Databricks (or similar platforms such as Snowflake)
  • Data ownership, stewardship and access controls
  • Data marketplaces, data exchanges or similar initiatives
  • Commercialising or monetising data assets

They're not looking for engineers, but you do need to be comfortable operating in technical environments and confident speaking with data teams, vendors and senior stakeholders alike.

Just as important is your ability to communicate. The successful candidates will be highly visible, stakeholder-facing and comfortable operating in an evolving environment where not everything is fully defined from day one.

The hiring managers are particularly interested in people who have helped establish new capabilities, products or governance functions rather than simply inheriting existing ones.
