Summary: The role of Senior Capability Specialist / Workforce Capability Specialist focuses on workforce planning and capability analysis within the nuclear and defence sector. The position requires collaboration with senior leadership to ensure the organization has the necessary skills and structure to meet current and future objectives. The specialist will provide critical insights and reporting to support strategic decision-making. This is a hybrid position located near Reading, with a contract duration of 12 months and classified as inside IR35.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead workforce capability reporting, analysis, and insight generation
- Identify skills gaps, trends, risks, and single points of failure
- Develop and maintain workforce capability data aligned to delivery outputs
- Engage with stakeholders to define required skills and future capability needs
- Provide oversight of safety-critical roles and highlight vulnerabilities
- Present clear, actionable reporting to senior leadership teams
- Align workforce demand with supply and budget in collaboration with finance
- Ensure governance, compliance, and accurate documentation of workforce risks
Key Skills:
- Proven experience in workforce capability, people analytics, or MI reporting
- Strong background operating in complex, regulated environments
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
- Highly analytical, with the ability to translate data into clear insights
- Advanced Excel skills
- Strong understanding of GDPR and handling sensitive data
- Organised, proactive, and solutions-focused
- Power BI experience (desirable)
- Experience within nuclear, defence, or other regulated industries (desirable)
- Knowledge of change management methodologies (Lean, Kaizen, ADKAR) (desirable)
- Familiarity with Workday and reporting tools (desirable)

This is a critical position working closely with senior leadership to ensure the organisation has the right skills, capacity, and structure in place to deliver both current and future objectives.
The Role
You will act as the central point for workforce capability management information, providing analysis, insight, and reporting to support strategic decision-making across the business unit.
- Lead workforce capability reporting, analysis, and insight generation
