Summary: Experienced Wireless Network Engineer needed to modernize and enhance the UK network infrastructure, focusing on improving reliability, security, and user experience. The role involves deploying advanced Wi-Fi solutions, conducting wireless surveys, and supporting facility expansion projects. Key responsibilities include designing enterprise wireless LAN solutions and troubleshooting complex Wi-Fi issues. The position requires ad-hoc travel to client sites for physical surveys and design work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, deploy and optimise enterprise wireless LAN solutions across office and industrial environments.
- Conduct wireless surveys (predictive & on site), RF analysis and coverage optimisation.
- Lead troubleshooting for complex Wi-Fi issues, including authentication, interference and performance degradation.
- Create and update Low Level Designs (LLDs) for Wi-Fi, NAC and related network services.
- Produce accurate Bill of Materials (BoM) for new deployments, refresh programmes and upgrade initiatives.
- Support Wi-Fi lifecycle management including hardware upgrades, software updates and capacity planning.
- Work with stakeholders across IT, operations and platform teams to define requirements and deliver scalable solutions.
- Contribute to standards, best practices, design documentation and knowledge sharing within the network engineering chapter.
Key Skills:
- Strong hands on experience with enterprise WLAN technologies (Cisco, Aruba).
- Deep understanding of RF fundamentals (channel planning, power, interference mitigation).
- Knowledge of 802.11 standards including Wi-Fi 5/6/6E/7.
- Experience with WLAN authentication (EAP methods, RADIUS, role based access).
- Proficiency with wireless survey tools (Ekahau, Hamina etc.).
- Experience with Cradlepoint, or similar 5G cellular enabled networking platforms.
- Experience supporting large scale Wi-Fi environments in complex organisations.
- Experience with ISE and Aruba ClearPass for 802.1X, RADIUS, profiling and role-based access.
- Ability to interpret network analytics, performance data and incident trends.
- Excellent communication skills and comfort engaging with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Able to travel ad-hoc to Client locations for onsite pre and post deployment Wi-Fi surveys.

Experienced UK based Specialist Wireless Network Engineer required for a programme of work which aims to modernize and enhance the UK network infrastructure to improve reliability, security, and user experience. Key initiatives include replacing end-of-life network hardware, deploying enhanced Wi-Fi solutions, and provisioning high-speed internet connectivity services overlayed with SDWAN technology. The programme will also progress alternative connectivity options such as satellite and 5G solutions for disaster recovery and rapid deployment, while supporting facility expansion projects. Comprehensive wireless surveys and design work will be a significant part of this engagement, with ad-hoc travel required to the UK Client sites to conduct physical Wi-Fi surveys and Desktop surveys with Ekahau tools.
