WWT EMEA has a need for a Senior Network Engineer to help with a campus refresh program for enterprise client.
This a delivery and project based role where the successful candidate will be responsible for planning, preparing and implementation of end to end solution.
Requirements
- Reviewing and relocating main equipment rooms across the building
- Refreshing floors as they are decommissioned, refurbished and brought back into service
- Migrating services to temporary core/distribution and ultimately to the finalcore/distribution design
- Deploying and configuring new network kit as floors and equipment roomsbecome available, including delivering kit to site, instructing juniorengineers/contractors, and migrating and refreshing existing switches
- Refreshing wireless infrastructure across multiple generations of Wi-Fi deployedacross the estate, including managing user Wi-Fi through construction andhandover phases and coordinating closely with construction teams on thepractical nuances this creates
- Building network infrastructure to the standard expected in live operations, withsecurity requirements designed in from the outset rather than retrofitted
- Validating network functionality jointly with cabling, AV, physical security and enduser testing teams
Skills required
- Cisco Catalyst switching — 6500, 4500 and 9410 platforms
- Cisco wireless access points across multiple generations — 3800 series throughto 9130 series
- Cisco wireless controllers — 5520, 5508 and 9800 series
- Cisco Catalyst Centre and Cisco Prime Infrastructure
- Strong, Wi-Fi savvy campus wireless experience — this is a key differentiator forthis programme
- Recent, hands-on experience deploying and refreshing network infrastructure ina live campus environment
- Experience deploying data centre-grade network devices
- Campus edge design experience
- Heavy use of BGP and Layer 3 routing domains in a campus context
Supplementary — Desirable
- General awareness of firewalls in a campus context (deep firewall engineeringnot required)
- Basic multicast configuration — sufficient for use cases such as officescreens/digital signage
- Voice VLAN configuration to switchport level (no end-to-end voice engineeringrequired)
