Wintel and VMWare Administrator

Summary: The Wintel and VMWare Administrator role involves providing support for migrating and upgrading Windows servers while managing VMware infrastructure. The position requires significant experience in Windows server administration and troubleshooting within a production IT environment. The role is part of a long-term program with opportunities for extension and requires SC clearance. The position allows for remote work with one day per week on-site in either Warrington or Gloucester.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide support in migrating and upgrading Windows 2012/2012 R2 Servers to Windows 2016/2019 Servers.
• Administer Windows (AD/DNS/DHCP) and VMware, including patch and image management.
• Troubleshoot issues related to Windows OS and various services.
• Manage directory services platforms, including configuration and policy settings.
• Participate in team projects such as new deployments and patch management.
• Install and configure ESXi and build VMware infrastructure from scratch.
• Perform diagnostics and troubleshooting of ESX server environments.
• Ensure backup and recovery of virtual machines and maintain DR environment.

Key Skills:

• Significant experience managing Windows Servers and infrastructure, including Active Directory.
• Hands-on experience in Windows 2012 to Windows 2016/2019 OS upgrades.
• Strong understanding of Active Directory, Group Policies, DNS, DHCP, and IIS.
• Experience in configuring VMware environments, including DRS and HA.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Cluster functionalities for High Availability.
• Experience in performance tuning of ESX VMware and resource management.
• Knowledge of ITIL processes and working in a 24X7 global environment.
• Ability to resolve problems effectively within SLA and perform root cause analysis.
