Summary: The Wintel and VMWare Administrator role involves providing support for migrating and upgrading Windows servers, alongside managing VMware infrastructure. The position requires significant experience in Windows server administration and troubleshooting within a production IT environment. The role is part of a long-term program with a strong emphasis on security clearance and operational excellence. Candidates will work in a hybrid model, with one day per week on-site in either Warrington or Gloucester.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide support in migrating and upgrading Windows 2012/2012 R2 Servers to Windows 2016/2019 Servers.
  • Administer Windows (AD/DNS/DHCP) and VMware, including patch management and image management.
  • Troubleshoot issues related to Windows OS and various services running on it.
  • Administer directory services platforms, including configuration, policy configurations, and troubleshooting.
  • Participate in team projects and activities such as new deployments and patch management.
  • Install and configure ESXi and build VMware infrastructure from scratch.
  • Perform diagnostics and troubleshooting of ESX server environment.
  • Maintain and perform periodic testing and upgrades of the disaster recovery environment.
  • Take responsibility for resolving problems effectively within SLA.

Key Skills:

  • Significant experience managing Windows servers and infrastructure, including Active Directory.
  • Hands-on experience in Windows 2012 to Windows 2016/2019 OS upgrades.
  • Strong understanding of Active Directory, Group Policies, DNS, DHCP, IIS, and WSUS.
  • Experience in an enterprise environment, including backup and restore procedures.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Cluster functionalities for High Availability.
  • Hands-on experience with VMware, including DRS, HA, and vCenter installation and configuration.
  • Good command line skills for ESX and experience in performance tuning of ESX VMware.
  • Knowledge of ITIL processes and experience working in a 24X7 global environment.

Salary (Rate): £350
