Summary: The Wintel and VMWare Administrator role involves providing support for migrating and upgrading Windows servers, specifically from Windows 2012/2012 R2 to Windows 2016/2019. The position requires significant experience in managing Windows servers and VMware infrastructure, with responsibilities including troubleshooting, system design, and participation in team projects. This is a 6-month contract with potential for extension, requiring SC clearance. The role allows for remote work with one day per week on-site in either Warrington or Gloucester.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide support in migrating and upgrading Windows 2012/2012 R2 Servers to Windows 2016/2019 Servers.
  • Administer Windows (AD/DNS/DHCP) and VMware, including patch management and image management.
  • Troubleshoot issues related to Windows OS and various services running on it.
  • Administer directory services platforms, including configuration, policy configurations, and root cause analysis.
  • Participate in defined team projects and activities such as new deployments and patch management.
  • Install and configure ESXi and build VMware infrastructure from scratch.
  • Perform diagnostics and troubleshooting of ESX server environment.
  • Maintain and perform periodic testing and upgrades of the DR environment.
  • Take responsibility for resolving problems effectively within SLA.

Key Skills:

  • Significant experience managing Windows servers and infrastructure, including Active Directory.
  • Hands-on experience in Windows 2012 to Windows 2016/2019 OS upgrades.
  • Strong understanding of Active Directory, Group Policies, DNS, DHCP, and IIS.
  • Experience in an enterprise environment, including backup and restore procedures.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Cluster functionalities for High Availability.
  • Hands-on experience in configuring DRS, HA, VMware Networking, and Datastores.
  • Experience in performance tuning of ESX VMware and resource management between virtual machines.
  • Knowledge of ITIL processes and working in a 24X7 global environment.
