Summary: The Windows Engineer role focuses on managing desktop and documentation upgrades, specifically for Windows 11, within a leading investment and asset management business. The position requires proficiency in SCCM and involves creating standard desktop images, updating existing devices, and ensuring a smooth rollout of Windows 11. The role is hybrid, requiring a minimum of three days in the office each week, and is classified as inside IR35 due to the use of an umbrella company.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create and document a standard desktop image for Windows 11
- Update existing Windows 10 devices using in place upgrades
- Create driver packs for various desktop hardware
- Unbox and set-up new PCs
- Ensure proper installation of software, drivers, and updates
- Ensure efficient Windows 11 roll-out to all devices
- Track, investigate and resolve issues related to the Windows 11 rollout
- Liaise with business users to ensure a smooth desktop migration
Key Skills:
- Strong knowledge of Windows desktop operating systems and experience working in the Financial industry
- Advanced scripting skills (VBScript, PowerShell, batch)
- Good understanding of desktop deployment and management tools (SCCM/MDT)
- Strong troubleshooting skills (procmon, performance monitor)
- Familiar with Azure hybrid joined devices
- Good understanding of networking concepts, DNS, DHCP, VLAN's, ACL's
- Great organisational and time management skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Demonstrable ability to innovate, support change and problem solve
- Happy to get their hands dirty (unboxing, racking, installing PC's if required)
