Summary: The Windows Automation Engineer role focuses on streamlining and standardizing the development Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) processes. The engineer will be responsible for automating application provisioning, monitoring tool versions, and collaborating with various teams to enhance security and compliance. Additionally, the role involves creating documentation and providing training to support the service effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop a workflow for application/package requests, sourcing, and security scanning.
- Automate the download and installation of required packages onto VDIs.
- Monitor and maintain the currency of tools/packages, ensuring updates and decommissioning obsolete tools.
- Collaborate with Infrastructure, Vulnerability/Security, L2, and dependent teams to operationalize processes.
- Create and maintain documentation and user guides for installation and troubleshooting.
- Stay updated with the latest technologies and best practices in platform engineering.
- Implement security and sourcing compliance measures for tools available on Nexus.
- Provide training and support to team members to mitigate resource dependency.
Key Skills:
- Experience with Windows Powershell, Nexus, and automation workflow tools.
- Leadership skills to drive service/feature development within the APO shared services.
