Summary: The Welding Superintendent will oversee welding operations at Hinkley Point C, a major nuclear construction project in Somerset. This role involves ensuring compliance with welding standards, guiding contract partners, and promoting a culture of quality and safety. The position requires extensive experience in welding engineering within regulated environments and strong leadership skills. The contract is rolling for 12 months with a competitive day rate.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and guide contract partners on all welding-related activities.
- Ensure welder qualifications and welding procedures meet project standards.
- Promote a culture of high-quality work, safety, and compliance.
- Oversee day-to-day welding activities and resolve on-site challenges.
- Liaise with stakeholders across six project programmes.
- Support the continuous improvement of welding and erection operations.
Key Skills:
- Extensive experience as an Expert Welding Engineer on large construction projects.
- Deep understanding of welding operations in regulated industries.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 and quality management systems.
- Ability to write concise technical reports.
- Degree or equivalent in Mechanical/Materials Engineering (desirable).
- Hands-on welding or mechanical trade background (desirable).
- Experience in nuclear or similar regulated industries (desirable).
