Summary: The Web Accessibility Specialist will lead the implementation of web accessibility best practices across Power Platform and data products, ensuring compliance with WCAG 2.2 AA and the Government Service Standard. This role requires expertise in assistive technologies and testing methodologies to enhance accessibility for users. The position is contract-based for 3-6 months and involves a hybrid working arrangement with one day per week onsite in London. The specialist will also be responsible for communicating accessibility requirements to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and embed web accessibility best practices across Power Platform and data products.
  • Ensure services meet WCAG 2.2 AA and Government Service Standard.
  • Conduct manual and automated testing for accessibility compliance.
  • Produce accessibility statements and documentation.
  • Communicate effectively between technical and non-technical audiences.

Key Skills:

  • Proven expertise in WCAG 2.2 AA and assistive technologies.
  • Experience with manual and automated testing tools (e.g., Axe, Lighthouse, WAVE).
  • Familiarity with the GOV.UK Service Standard and Design System.
  • Experience with Power Platform and accessible component libraries.
  • Strong communication skills for diverse audiences.

Key Skills & Experience:

  • Proven expertise in WCAG 2.2 AA, assistive tech (screen readers, magnifiers, voice input), and practical remediation.
  • Experience of manual and automated testing e.g. Axe, Lighthouse, WAVE.
  • Familiarity with the GOV.UK Service Standard, GOV.UK Design System, and producing accessibility statements.
  • Experience with Power Platform, UI patterns, and accessible component libraries.
  • Ability to communicate between technical and non-technical audiences.
