Summary: The Weapons Integration Engineer role focuses on supporting the RESOLUTE VALKYRIE programme within the MOD's UAS2 team, emphasizing aircraft weapon system integration. The position requires technical oversight, airworthiness management, and compliance with UK defence standards throughout the acquisition lifecycle. The successful candidate will ensure alignment with MOD regulations and operational safety requirements while managing safety assurance processes. SC Clearance is required for this position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and implementation of airworthiness strategies and plans required by the Type Airworthiness Authority (TAA).
  • Develop, manage, and maintain effective Safety Management Systems (SMS), identifying hazards and risk reduction measures.
  • Provide task assurance of safety management processes and oversee the Master Evidence Record, ensuring regular reviews by claim owners.
  • Take ownership of the Type Airworthiness Safety Assessment (TASA), ensuring compliance with all safety assurance requirements.
  • Ensure adherence to UK, EU, and MOD safety regulations, providing expert safety advice to stakeholders.
  • Develop, maintain, and monitor compliance with Project Safety Assurance Plans, ensuring necessary evidence is gathered and assessed.
  • Lead the preparation and execution of Platform Safety Panels, reviewing and endorsing safety artefacts.
  • Assess Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) safety artefacts as part of a Suitably Qualified and Experienced Personnel (SQEP) panel.
  • Oversee contractual safety management, ensuring suppliers meet safety requirements.
  • Provide informed safety advice to decision-makers through Project Safety Panels and update key safety documentation.

Key Skills:

  • Experience in Acquisition Safety & Environment within MOD or defence engineering projects.
  • Strong understanding of airworthiness regulations, DE&S policy, and UK/EU safety legislation.
  • Experience in hazard identification, risk assessment, and safety case development.
  • Ability to manage safety management systems and lead on safety policy development.
  • Experience engaging with Type Airworthiness Authorities (TAA) and MOD safety panels.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to liaise with technical teams, contractors, and senior decision-makers.
