Summary: The Waste & Resources Lead will oversee waste management for the Hinkley Point C Project, ensuring compliance with waste legislation while optimizing commercial and environmental outcomes. This role involves collaboration with construction teams and stakeholders to manage waste during various project phases. The successful candidate will leverage their expertise in large-scale construction waste management to enhance operations and support sustainability initiatives. The position is contract-based for 12 months and requires strong communication and project management skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of waste legislation and employ a technical, sustainable approach to construction waste management.
- Utilize recent knowledge from construction or industrial environments to enhance waste management operations.
- Ensure successful delivery within large-scale project environments, meeting timelines and budget expectations.
- Develop and implement strategies for dynamic project delivery.
- Engage positively with internal and external stakeholders through strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Tackle complex issues strategically, contributing to a cohesive local supply chain vision.
- Identify and evaluate new recovery or recycling routes for evolving waste streams.
- Chair Monthly Waste Management meetings with contractors' waste leads.
- Liaise regularly with the Environment Agency.
- Support the Project's sustainability agenda by implementing waste policies that support Net Zero and Circular Economy initiatives.
Key Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of waste legislation and experience in large-scale construction or high hazard industrial waste management.
- Detailed working knowledge of Technical Guidance WM3 and advanced waste classification.
- Project management experience managing significant work packages and budgets.
- Proven track record of delivery within large project environments.
- Ability to develop strategies and deliver projects in dynamic environments.
- Excellent communication skills and experience in stakeholder engagement.
- Proven ability to manage complex issues and foster a one team ethos.
- Ability to manage large data sets and prepare environmental, contractual, and financial reports.
- Degree standard education or relevant technical experience in a related industrial setting (desirable).
- NEC3 Contract training and Project Management qualification (desirable).
