Summary: The Waste & Resources Lead will oversee waste management operations for a major energy infrastructure project in Somerset, ensuring compliance with waste legislation while promoting sustainability and efficiency. This role involves managing a high-value waste contract, coordinating with contractors, and implementing innovative waste solutions. The position is site-based and requires collaboration with various stakeholders to achieve project goals. The contract is for 12 months and classified as inside IR35.

Key Responsibilities:

• Drive efficient waste management operations for a significant construction project.
• Lead the management of a high-value waste contract, ensuring safety, quality, and sustainability.
• Oversee waste reduction initiatives and monitor environmental impact.
• Coordinate with project contractors and manage waste produced onsite.
• Engage with stakeholders, including the Environment Agency, to ensure compliance.
• Develop and implement strategies for effective project delivery.
• Chair Monthly Waste Management meetings with contractors’ waste leads.
• Support the Project’s sustainability agenda by implementing waste policies.

Key Skills:

• In-depth knowledge of waste legislation and experience in large-scale construction waste management.
• Detailed working knowledge of Technical Guidance WM3 and advanced waste classification.
• Project management experience with significant work packages and budgets.
• Excellent communication skills and stakeholder engagement experience.
• Ability to manage large data sets and prepare environmental and financial reports.
• Proven ability to tackle complex issues and foster a collaborative team environment.
• Degree standard education or relevant technical experience is desirable.
• Membership in relevant professional organizations is a plus.
