Summary: The Waste & Recycling Operative (Bank) role at New Cross Hospital involves supporting the Waste Management Team in providing essential waste management services. The position requires flexibility in working hours and offers an opportunity to gain experience in a hospital environment. The role includes routine waste collections and compliance with health and safety regulations. Training and uniform will be provided to successful candidates.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake routine waste collections and support waste and recycling activities as instructed.
  • Operate waste disposal compactor, road sweeper, bailers, and forklift truck.
  • Ensure bin compounds are locked and free from litter.
  • Collect and dispose of clinical and domestic waste containers across the site.
  • Promote waste segregation and recycling.
  • Work flexibly between 0600 - 2100hrs, including weekends as required.
  • Comply with health and safety standards and hazardous waste regulations.
  • Communicate effectively with team leaders and other staff to maximize efficiency.
  • Complete mandatory training and maintain up-to-date knowledge of waste regulations.
  • Report any defects and ensure accurate completion of timesheets and incident forms.
