Summary: The Waste Project Manager will oversee a portfolio of waste reduction and optimization projects across UK manufacturing sites, focusing on cost reduction and waste valorization initiatives. This role requires strong stakeholder engagement and the ability to deliver measurable operational and financial benefits through developed business cases. The position involves travel between Huddersfield and Grangemouth sites. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in continuous improvement projects within a manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead end-to-end delivery of multiple waste management projects across manufacturing sites
  • Drive reductions in waste volumes and costs, including recovery of valuable materials
  • Develop robust business cases for capital and operational investment, including low/no-cost improvements
  • Engage and influence cross-functional stakeholders including HSEQ, Engineering, Operations, Finance, and external partners
  • Track and report on project performance, KPIs, and financial savings
  • Identify and mitigate project and environmental risks
  • Conduct data analysis and develop process maps to assess and recommend optimal technical solutions
  • Capture and share lessons learned and best practices across sites

Key Skills:

  • Proven track record delivering continuous improvement projects within a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Experience managing capital and/or operational projects in regulated settings
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence without authority
  • Excellent communication skills, able to simplify complex technical concepts for a non-technical audience
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver at pace in an ambiguous environment
  • Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution capabilities
  • Degree-qualified in a relevant technical discipline (e.g. engineering, chemical, environmental)
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing processes and regulatory frameworks
  • Understanding of waste management, production processes, or related technical areas
