Summary: The VMWare VCF Engineer role is a contract position focused on designing, building, and improving a private cloud platform using VMware Cloud Foundation. The engineer will work on-site in Farnborough and is required to have active security clearance. This position emphasizes expertise in infrastructure and application engineering within the Defence and National Security sectors. The role is classified as outside IR35 with a competitive day rate.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the primary Infrastructure/Application engineer with deep expertise in VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) to design, build, operate, and continuously improve the private cloud platform.
- Support a Data-Centric Security LoE by translating business and application requirements into scalable VCF reference architectures (Management/WLD domains, VI WLD design).
- Execute detailed capacity planning and create BOM and HCL-compliant designs covering compute, storage, and networking, including Edge design.
- Maintain, secure, and improve multi-classification, virtualised, collaboration, and development environments.
- Stand up and configure VCF, ensuring automated deployments and integration of platform services.
- Establish and document templates, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and baselines for application teams to ensure operational excellence.
