Summary: The VMware Horizon Specialist role involves supporting the upgrade of a public sector program's virtual desktop infrastructure to the latest Omnissa Horizon version. Key tasks include planning, testing, and executing upgrades, as well as VDI migrations to Windows 11 in a secure environment. The position requires strong hands-on experience with VMware Horizon and related technologies. This is an urgent contract position for 6 months, based onsite in Ipswich.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the upgrade of VMware Horizon components to the latest Omnissa Horizon version.
• Plan, test, and execute upgrades of virtual desktop infrastructure.
• Migrate VDI to Windows 11 and deploy Office 365.
• Apply CIS Level 2 security hardening in a secure, offline environment.
• Document upgrade processes, configurations, and deliver full handover.

Key Skills:

• Strong hands-on experience with VMware Horizon / Omnissa Horizon upgrades.
• Solid background in vCenter, ESXi, and virtual desktop (VDI) deployments.
• Proven experience with AppVolumes, Dynamic Environment Manager (DEM), and UAGs.
• Comfortable upgrading VDI clients to Windows 11 and deploying Office 365.
• Knowledge of CIS Level 2 security hardening for Windows and VMware environments.
• Ability to document upgrade processes, configurations, and deliver full handover.

Salary (Rate): £740 per day
