Summary: The VMware Consultant role in Sheffield, UK, involves providing expert support for VMware environments, focusing on troubleshooting, solution design, and VM migration strategies. Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide troubleshooting and solutions for virtualized infrastructure incident cases.
  • Design and develop solutions to optimize virtualized infrastructure resource usage.
  • Facilitate multiple teams testing on the same virtualized infrastructure.
  • Understand configurations for VM migration scenarios to ensure application safety.
  • Design and develop solutions for VM migration.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive the delivery of new infrastructure and features.
  • Provide support for customer inquiries.

Key Skills:

  • 5+ years of experience in supporting VMware environments and technologies (vSphere, vCenter, vROPS, NSX, SAN).
  • Strong experience with development and automation tools (vRealize Automation, Ansible, git, GitLab, Jenkins).
  • Experience with programming languages (Shell Script, PowerShell, Python).
  • Experience with Operating Systems (Linux Servers and Windows Servers).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
  • Experience with cloud technologies and hybrid cloud environments.
  • Strong expertise in VMware migration strategies and methodologies.
  • Knowledge of agile software development principles and tools (Scrum, Kanban, Lean).
  • Knowledge of application services (OS, DB, Middleware, Network).
  • Knowledge of tooling services (DNS, AD, Storage, NAS, Anti-virus).
  • Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with teams and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamically changing environment.
