Summary: The role of VMware Consultant requires SC clearance and involves working on-site in Manchester five days a week. The consultant will be responsible for delivering a VCF-based platform within a single datacenter architecture, including design, deployment, and security hardening. This position demands expertise in hybrid cloud solutions and secure deployments, particularly in government or defense projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deploy and configure an MVP architecture in a single datacenter environment.
- Implement VCF topology with up to 2 VCFs (High and Low) and up to 6 Workload Domains.
- Lead the vCloud Director (vCD) deployment on the high-side environment.
- Perform security hardening of the platform to required standards.
- Execute platform validation and document results in the Validation Workbook.
- Deliver according to the project scope, focusing on:
- Converged and cohered architecture (physical and logical separation of trust zones).
- Shared Services and template sharing between workloads.
- Portability via Infrastructure as Code (IaC) with cloud-agnostic, vendor-neutral tooling.
- Enabling Zero Trust, Edge Compute, and Hybrid Cloud capabilities.
Key Skills:
- Active SC Clearance (mandatory).
- Proven experience delivering VCF-based infrastructures.
- Strong background with vCD, workload domain design, and secure cloud deployments.
- Deep understanding of hybrid cloud solutions, IaaC, and Zero Trust principles.
- Experience supporting secure UK Government or Defence projects (preferred).
- Ability to work full-time onsite in Manchester (5 days a week).

This role requires SC clearance and a commitment to working on-site five days a week. You will play a pivotal role in delivering a VCF-based platform across a single datacenter architecture. This includes the design, deployment, and hardening of the base platform, configuration of Workload Domains, and support of edge compute and hybrid cloud components.
