Visual Basic Developer

Summary: A digital client in Telford is seeking a VB6 Developer to support a critical programme, requiring recent experience in a large development team and on critical business systems. The role involves developing and supporting internal components, troubleshooting defects, and collaborating with service teams. The position is inside IR35 and offers a competitive daily rate. The ideal candidate should have a strong software development background and experience with legacy technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and support internal components within the wider engineering estate
• Contribute to the delivery of system changes, ensuring quality and stability across releases
• Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve defects and production issues
• Collaborate with Delivery Managers and service teams to align development activities with delivery priorities and live service needs
• Follow established processes, controls, and engineering standards within a legacy environment

Key Skills:

• Strong general software development background with a willingness to learn and support legacy technologies
• Experience or exposure to: VB6, Microsoft Visual Studio 6.0, NuMega DevPartner Studio, VB6 ActiveX Components and VBA
• Experience working with integration tooling and technologies including SOAP Toolkits, Team Foundation Server (TFS), XML, Microsoft Edge and ISSO
• Experience working in controlled, production-critical environments is advantageous

Salary (Rate): £420 daily
