Summary: The HR Operations Vice President role is a high-impact position within a global financial services organization, focusing on HR risk and governance. The successful candidate will be responsible for enhancing risk management practices and aligning HR strategies with organizational objectives. This role requires extensive experience in HR Operations and Governance, particularly in regulated environments. The position is based in London and offers a hybrid working arrangement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define and agree deliverable scope and format with stakeholders
  • Identify and document HR risk data and systems, including data integrity controls
  • Document rationale for data usage, maintenance processes and KRI calculations (including 4-eye checking process)
  • Define and assess HR risk scope, including ESG own workforce risk
  • Update and align the HR Risk Management strategy and framework with broader Risk documentation
  • Review current HR KRIs, risk appetite and thresholds; propose revisions and lead stakeholder review
  • Apply the Bank-wide 3 Lines of Defence (3LOD) framework and methodology to HR
  • Document hierarchy, escalation protocols and ownership matrices
  • Develop and enhance Reputation Risk documentation including: Risk Framework Assessment Methodology, Stress Testing Scenarios, Risk Appetite Statements, Dashboard and Metrics, EMEA Insight reporting
  • Review and enhance EMEA working time policies, clarifying roles and monitoring responsibilities
  • Align HR strategy and services with SMFG MTMP and EMEA MTMP goals
  • Strengthen HR strategy documentation to clearly articulate alignment between organisational objectives, HR services, targets and HR risk management

Key Skills:

  • Extensive experience operating at VP level within HR Operations, HR Risk, or HR Governance in a complex, regulated environment (ideally financial services)
  • Deep understanding of HR risk frameworks, KRIs, risk appetite setting, and 3LOD methodology
  • Experience working with the ECB and navigating regulatory requirements
  • Strong track record documenting governance structures, escalation processes, and control frameworks
  • Ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders across HR, Risk, and Compliance
  • Strong analytical and documentation skills, with attention to detail and regulatory alignment

Role: HR Operations Vice President

Location: Liverpool Street, London (Hybrid – 2/3 days per week)

Contract: Until 31st March 2027

Day Rate: £550 per day (via Umbrella Company)

LHH is partnering with a leading global financial services organisation to appoint an experienced HR Operations Vice President on a long-term contract based in London. This is a high-impact role sitting within a critical HR risk and governance programme, responsible for delivering key components of the HR risk framework across EMEA. The successful candidate will work closely with senior stakeholders to enhance risk management practices, governance structures, and strategic HR alignment.
