Summary: The Vehicle Safety Test Laboratory Technician is responsible for supporting physical test activities in a laboratory setting, including assembling test rigs and operating control systems. This role requires ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards while maintaining test equipment and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives. The technician will also conduct inspections and manage data acquisition to support accurate testing processes. Key Responsibilities:
- Assemble test rigs and test properties to required specifications.
- Operate rig control systems to ensure accurate and representative test conditions.
- Manage data acquisition and instrumentation systems to ensure robust data collection.
- Conduct inspections of test rigs and properties to identify issues and support root cause analysis.
- Complete test documentation (DART reports, logs, plans) accurately and on time.
- Perform rig inspection, maintenance, and timely repairs.
- Adhere to Total Preventative Maintenance (TPM) schedules.
- Ensure compliance with IATF 16949 (Quality), ISO 14001 (Environmental), ISO 45001 (Health & Safety), and ISO 17025 (Laboratory Standards).
- Follow risk assessments, COSHH regulations, and calibration processes.
- Provide regular updates to the Lead Engineer on test progress and delays.
- Collaborate with design teams for fixture development when required.
- Actively contribute to process improvements in laboratory technology and testing methods.
- Promote a culture of safety, challenging poor practices and guiding others.
