Summary: The Vehicle Homologation Regulations Engineer is responsible for monitoring and interpreting global automotive regulations to ensure compliance throughout the vehicle development lifecycle. This role involves translating regulatory texts into actionable engineering requirements and serving as a liaison between regulatory bodies and engineering teams. The engineer will also support compliance planning and manage changes in regulations impacting vehicle programs. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills are essential for success in this position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor, interpret, and assess the impact of global automotive regulations on vehicle features and systems.
  • Translate regulatory texts into clear, actionable engineering requirements and maintain ownership throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Act as the primary liaison between regulatory bodies, legal teams, and engineering functions.
  • Support programme teams in planning for regulatory compliance, including feature delivery timelines and validation strategies.
  • Track regulatory changes and assess their impact on existing and future vehicle programmes.
  • Work closely with systems engineers to ensure regulatory requirements are integrated into system architectures.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation required for certification and homologation activities.

Key Skills:

  • Strong experience in interpreting and applying automotive regulations in an engineering context.
  • Proven track record in writing and managing technical requirements.
  • Experience working with regulatory frameworks (e.g. EU, UNECE, FMVSS, ISO standards).
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience with requirements management tools (e.g. Dassault TRM, IBM DOORS).
  • Understanding of systems engineering principles and V-model development processes.
  • Experience in vehicle homologation or certification processes (desirable).
  • Knowledge of feature development and integration in automotive systems (desirable).

  • Graduate or postgraduate degree in an engineering discipline.

Duties:

  • Regulations Management & Interpretation: Monitor, interpret, and assess the impact of global automotive regulations (e.g., UNECE, FMVSS, GSR, ISO) on vehicle features and systems.
  • Requirements Authoring & Ownership: Translate regulatory texts into clear, actionable engineering requirements. Maintain ownership of these requirements throughout the product lifecycle, ensuring traceability and compliance.
  • Cross-Functional Communication: Act as the primary liaison between regulatory bodies, legal teams, and engineering functions. Ensure consistent understanding and implementation of regulatory requirements across all stakeholders.
  • Compliance Planning: Support programme teams in planning for regulatory compliance, including feature delivery timelines, validation strategies, and documentation.
  • Change Management: Track regulatory changes and assess their impact on existing and future vehicle programmes. Lead updates to requirements and communicate changes effectively.
