Summary: The UX Designer role involves creating intuitive and engaging user experiences for a utilities organization, focusing on aligning designs with business objectives and user needs. The position requires collaboration with cross-functional teams in an Agile/Scrum environment to transform complex requirements into user-friendly designs. The role is based in Plymouth with a remote working arrangement of one day a month on-site. The contract duration is six months with potential for extension.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design intuitive user interfaces and interactions for web and mobile applications that meet user needs and business goals.
- Conduct user research, including personas, journey mapping, and competitive analysis to inform design decisions.
- Create wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes to illustrate design ideas and user flows.
- Rapidly iterate designs based on user feedback, stakeholder input, and testing results.
- Collaborate in a cross-functional Agile/Scrum team to understand business goals and technical constraints.
- Advocate for the end user during product planning and design discussions, prioritising the user experience.
- Conduct usability testing, A/B testing, and analyse quantitative/qualitative data to validate design assumptions.
- Implement feedback from testing and stakeholder reviews to optimise user interfaces.
- Contribute to and maintain design systems and guidelines for consistency across all digital products.
- Ensure designs align with company branding and accessibility standards.
- Actively participate in Agile ceremonies, including daily standups and retrospectives.
- Collaborate with the product owner to groom the backlog and prioritise UX tasks based on user and business needs.
Key Skills:
- Proficiency with design tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or similar platforms.
- Understanding of HTML/CSS/JavaScript principles for effective communication with developers.
- Familiarity with user research and usability testing tools like UserTesting, Hotjar, or Google Analytics.
- Strong portfolio showcasing user-centred design processes, UX/UI deliverables, and web/mobile application designs.
- Expertise in visual design, information architecture, interaction design, and usability.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Experience working within Agile/Scrum methodologies and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- Strong communication and presentation skills to convey design concepts to stakeholders and team members.
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced team environment.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
